Is the total in this Sunday Night Football’s matchup between the Cowboys and Giants set too high for the 8:30PM ET kickoff?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Giants are 3.5-point home underdogs versus the Cowboys after opening as a 3-point dog. As for the total, the number hit the board at 47.5 and that’s where it currently sits at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.
The Cowboys have now won 11 straight games to get to 11-1 and within a victory over the Giants on Sunday night of clinching the NFC East. That said, they haven’t covered the spread in back-to-back games despite being 9-3 ATS on the year. The under, meanwhile, has cashed in seven of their 12 games this season.
The Giants are coming off their first loss in six games, losing 24-14 in a lackluster performance against the Steelers last Sunday in Pittsburgh. The loss dropped New York’s record to 8-4, which puts them three full games behind Dallas in the division. After failing to cover in two of their last three games, the Giants are also 6-5-1against the spread in their 12 games this season.

OUR PREDICTION: The total for this game seems way too high given the Giants’ struggles on offense and their stout play on defense this season. The over is 16-5-1 in the last 22 meetings between New York and Dallas, but the under is 4-0 in the Giants’ last four games overall. The under is also 5-0 in the Cowboys’ last five games in December and has cashed in nine of their last 11 road games. This matchup should be tight throughout, but I also expect it to be low-scoring for bettors.
