Cowboys 2012-13 Season Odds
ARLINGTON, TX (The Spread) – Can the Dallas Cowboys finally get out of their own way and make a deep postseason run? Let’s check out their season odds.
The Cowboys are currently 20/1 to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 11/1 to win the 2013 NFC Championship. They’re also +260 on the money line to win the NFC East Division this season and have an over/under total of 8 for number of total games they’ll win in 2012-13.
The Cowboys made a splash in free agency by signing former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Brandon Carr to a five-year deal back in March. They also signed former Carolina Panther linebacker Dan Connor, although on the offensive side of the ball they watched productive receiver Laurent Robinson sign a free agent deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After signing Carr the Cowboys weren’t done upgrading their secondary. They traded up to the No. 6 pick in the draft and selected former LSU corner Morris Claiborne with their first-round pick and also added Eastern Washington strong safety matt Johnson in the fourth. In the third, they took Boise State defensive end Tyrone Crawford and with their first selection in the fourth round (Johnson was their second pick in the fourth), Dallas took Wake Forest linebacker Kyle Wilber.
While the ‘Boys did well to upgrade their secondary questions remain in Dallas. Is Tony Romo the right quarterback to lead this team to a Super Bowl? Can Jason Garrett’s offense score enough points to go with all of their yards they constantly rack up? Can the secondary improve at not only cornerback, but safety as well? If the Cowboys don’t get in their own way they should win at least 9 games, making them a shoe-in for the over 8 for win total. But this team always seems on the edge of imploding.
