Dallas Cowboys 2016 NFL Season Win Total Prediction

Cowboys’ Season Win Total Prediction

After winning just four games last season, the Cowboys will rebound in 2016 if they can stay healthy. But will they win over 10 games this upcoming season?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cowboys’ over/under for wins in 2016 has been set at 9.5. The Cowboys are also 18/1 to win Super Bowl 51, are 9/1 to win the NFC Conference Championship, and have +175 odds to win the NFC East Division this upcoming season.

A Look Back

After winning the NFC East in 2014 and beating the Lions in the wildcard round, the Cowboys took a massive step back in 2015 due to injuries. Quarterback Tony Romo wound up making just four starts, completing 83 passes on 121 attempts for 884 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions. With massive instability at quarterback, the Cowboys lost seven consecutive games after starting the year 2-0 and never recovered in the second half. They finished in the basement of the division.

A Look Ahead

The biggest offseason acquisition that the Cowboys made was selecting Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott with their first-round pick in April. If Romo stays healthy and Elliott winds up being as effective as DeMarco Murray was in 2014, then the Cowboys must like their chances to make one of the biggest rebounds in the NFL this season. The team also nabbed Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott in the fourth round.

OUR PICK: The Cowboys have one of the best offensive lines in football, have a legit Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate in Elliott, and a bona fide No. 1 receiver in Dez Bryant. But trusting that Romo will stay healthy long enough for Dallas to win 10 games and cover the over is a risky bet. Plus, with Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence suspended, who is going to rush the passer for this team? The defense has a lot of holes to fill and if Romo misses significant time once again, the Cowboys will fall well short of expectations. Even if everyone stays healthy, 9 wins might be their ceiling.
