Broncos 2012-13 Season Odds
DENVER, CO (The Spread) – After making perhaps the biggest offseason signing of the year, John Fox’s Denver Broncos big things in 2012.
According to oddsmakers the Broncos are currently 16/1 to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 7/1 to win the 2013 AFC Championship. They’re currently favored at +170 on the money line to win the AFC West Division and have an over/under total of 9 games for number of total wins in 2012-13.
As previously mentioned, the Broncos made a splash this offseason by signing veteran quarterback Peyton Manning to a massive contract. They traded 2012 starter Tim Tebow to the Jets so the path was cleared for Manning to put his imprint on this Bronco team. While he’s throw three interceptions this preseason, hopes remain high that the Broncos will take the next step under Manning, especially if their defense can play as well as it did in 2012.
The Broncos also signed cornerback Tracy Porter this offseason and added tight end Joel Dreessen as well. And in the draft, Denver selected Cincinnati defensive tackle Derek Wolfe and Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler with two second-round picks. In the third the Broncos nabbed San Diego State running back Ronnie Hillman.
Manning’s health will be the key to the Broncos success. Eventually he’ll shake off the rust but he didn’t take a snap last year after having multiple surgeries on his neck and nobody knows if he’ll be able to absorb a big hit. If he can stay healthy, the Broncos have a slight edge over the Chargers, Chiefs and Raiders to win the AFC West – especially if their defense and running game can be as potent as it was a year ago. And with a Super Bowl-winning quarterback now under center, who knows how far Denver could go if they can reach the postseason.
