Lions 2012 Regular Season Odds
DETROIT, MI (The Spread) – Optimism is at an all-time high in Detroit after the Lions made the playoffs last season. But can they build off their 2011 success?
According to oddsmakers, the Lions are 25/1 to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 12/1 to win the 2013 NFC Championship. They’re also +450 on the money line to win the NFC North Division this year and their over/under for number of wins during the regular season is 9.
One of the bigger moves the Lions made this offseason was re-signing middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch, who had a ton of success last year after signing a one-year deal last offseason. The team also re-signed offensive lineman Jeff Backus and lost cornerback Eric Wright, who signed a free agent deal with Tampa Bay.
In April’s draft the Lions tabbed Iowa offensive tackle Riley Reiff as their first-round pick and in the second round, Detroit drafted Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles. In the third the Lions took Louisiana-Lafayette cornerback Dwight Bentley and in the fourth the team took Oklahoma linebacker Ronnell Lewis.
For the first time in his career quarterback Matthew Stafford stayed healthy last season and the Lions made the playoffs. Thanks to their passing game, which features Stafford and receiver Calvin Johnson, the Lions can hang with anyone offensively. But questions remain in the secondary and at running back, where the team can’t stay healthy. Detroit also plays in the same division as Green Bay and Chicago, two teams with playoff or Super Bowl-caliber rosters. It’ll be tough for the Lions to make the playoffs again but the talent is there, especially on defense.

2013 NFC Championship Odds: 12/1
