Dolphins vs. Panthers Prediction
Are the Carolina Panthers a good bet to not only beat the Miami Dolphins, but also cover the point spread as nearly a double-digit favorite? Kickoff tonight is set for 8:30 p.m. ET tonight for Monday Night Football.
Who Oddsmakers Like: Carolina. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Panthers are now 9-point home favorites to beat the Dolphins, who hit the board at +7.5. As for the over/under, the number currently sits at 38 points after hitting the board at 39.5.
Who Public Bettors Like: Miami. As of this writing, 60% of tickets are actually on the underdog Dolphins plus the points. Apparently public bettors aren’t buying into the Panthers yet despite Carolina’s 6-3 record.
Who the Trends Like: Miami and the under. In their last five games against the Panthers, the Dolphins are 5-0 against the spread. Over that same span, the under is also 4-1.
Who We Like: Carolina. Even though I believe this will be a low-scoring game and thus, there’s not much room for error with a biggish favorite to cover, I still like the Panthers. I don’t think Miami scores more than 10 points tonight. Carolina has one of the best defenses in the league this season and Miami has been shut out twice already this season (New Orleans and Baltimore). The Dolphins did score 24 points last week, but that came against a below-average Raiders defense and 8 of those 24 points were scored on the final drive. Bottom line, Miami will struggle tonight offensively. It’ll be close, but I see this being a 23-10 Panthers victory.
