Falcons vs. Giants Playoff Odds
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – In perhaps the most even matchup of Wildcard Weekend in the NFL, the New York Giants will host the Atlanta Falcons today at 1:00PM ET on FOX.
ATLANTA: While the Falcons were highly erratic this year, they qualified for the postseason for the third time in four years under head coach Mike Smith. They wrapped up the regular season with a 10-6 overall record but were just 7-8-1 against the spread. Matt Ryan finished the season with 4,177 passing yards while Michael Turner chipped in 1,340 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. At the start of Week 17 the Falcons probably assumed they were headed back to New Orleans for a rematch with the Saints, but the Lions lost to the Packers and essentially sent Atlanta to New York this weekend.
NEW YORK: The Giants won the NFC East and clinched the No. 4 seed in the playoffs with their 31-14 victory over the Cowboys in Week 17. It was New York’s second victory in as many weeks and its third in its last four games. The G-Men finished the regular season with a 9-7 overall record and went 8-7-1 against the spread. Eli Manning led the team with 4,933 passing yards while Jason Pierre-Paul racked up a whopping 16.5 sacks. The Giants’ struggles at home this year have been well documented, as they finished 4-4 at MetLife Stadium (not including their Week 16 win versus the Jets, who play in the same stadium and were technically the home team for that contest) and 3-4-1 against the spread.
ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Giants as a 3-point favorite over the Falcons for today’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 47.5 points. Atlanta enters the day with a 10-6 overall record and is 4-4 on the road this year, while New York is 9-7 overall and 4-4 at home.
TRENDS: The Falcons are 5-0 against the spread in their last five road games against the Giants while the road team is 8-0 ATS in the last eight meetings between these two teams. The under is 5-1-1 in the last seven meetings, 6-1 in the Giants’ last seven playoff games and 5-1 in the Falcons’ last six games versus a team with a winning record.
