Atlanta Falcons DFS Spin
Falcons QB Desmond Ridder completed 10-of-22 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns in his preseason debut against Detroit. The Falcons started Marcus Mariota, who left after scoring a rushing TD on the first series. Ridder’s debut couldn’t have went much better, with the rookie finishing as Atlanta’s leading rusher (59 yards on six carries) and leading the team to a win in the second half. Ridder’s game-winning drive came in the two-minute drill, throwing a 21-yard touchdown on a broken fourth-down play. The Falcons have given Mariota the majority of first-team reps to this point, but this is the type of performance that could shake things up.
New York Jets DFS Spin
The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt reports Joe Flacco has been “on fire” as the Jets starter in training camp. Flacco has operated as New York’s starter after Zach Wilson suffered a frightening knee injury in the team’s first preseason game. Wilson has since undergone surgery and likely won’t be ready for Week 1. Flacco, 37, recently completed 10 straight passes in 11-on-11 practices, hitting pass catchers in stride and demonstrating a command of the Jets offense. Rosenblatt said Flacco on Tuesday “completed 14 of 17 passes, with four touchdowns, all of them in the red zone — an area in which Wilson had struggled at times in training camp.” There’s a reasonable argument that Flacco would be better for the fantasy prospects of Jets pass catchers than Wilson, who has struggled at times during camp. New York receivers have complimented Flacco’s delivery since he took over as starter. Flacco could be a pleasant surprise in superflex formats early in the regular season. He would have a revenge game against Baltimore in Week 1.

Falcons vs. Jets Prediction:
Given the way both offenses looked last week, I like the over tonight. Both Ridder and Marcus Mariota played well in Arthur Smith’s offense and seeing as how they’re competing against each other to win the Falcons’ starting QB job, the sense of urgency will be there again tonight. Wilson is out but as the report notes above, Flacco has looked sharp this offseason. We won’t be talking about either of these teams’ offenses much in September, but each side is confident right now and we might as well take advantage of it when the total is sitting so low.
