Atlanta Falcons DFS Spin
Marcus Mariota completed 12-of-23 passes for 129 yards in the Falcons’ 20-17, Week 9 loss to the Chargers. Mariota missed Kyle Pitts on what would have been a touchdown of more than 70 yards, though it could be argued Pitts failed to adjust to a catchable deep throw. Mariota also added 24 yards on five carries. This was the fifth time in nine starts that Mariota has been held under 150 passing yards. Hidden behind a run-first philosophy, Mariota has no floor or ceiling as a fantasy option. He should only be rostered in Superflex leagues heading into Week 10.
Carolina Panthers DFS Spin
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Panthers will start P.J. Walker on Thursday night against the Falcons. Walker was benched at halftime of Sunday’s 42-21 loss to the Bengals after completing three of 10 passes for nine yards and two interceptions in the first half. The Panthers also activated Sam Darnold on Monday, but a short week to prepare for the Falcons will give Walker at least one more start this season. Carolina’s quarterback situation will be a carousel through the remainder of the year, as Darnold and Baker Mayfield could also see starts in the team’s final seven games of the regular season. Walker had a career game against the Falcons in Week 8, throwing for 317 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the overtime loss, so it’s possible another solid outing on Thursday night could be in store. However, he’ll be hard to trust for fantasy purposes after last week’s benching.
