NFL Playoff Favorites a Perfect 6-0 ATS

With covers by the Falcons and Patriots on Saturday night, the favorites are now a perfect 6-0 in the NFL playoffs.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the two favorites on Sunday are the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs. The Cowboys are currently a 5.5-point home favorite versus the Packers for the 4:40PM ET kickoff in Dallas and the Chiefs are a 2.5-point home favorite over the Steelers at 8:20PM ET.

The action started last weekend in the Wildcard round, as the Texans covered as a 4-point favorite over the Raiders in a 27-14 win and the Seahawks covered as a 9-point home favorite in a 26-6 victory over the Lions. Last Sunday, the Steelers rolled to a 30-12 win over the Dolphins as an 11.5-point home favorite and the Packers capped off the perfect weekend for the favorites by covering as a 5-point fave in a 38-13 thumping of the Giants.

Yesterday the line in the Seattle-Atlanta matchup climbed to 6.5 after it opened at 3.5. The Falcons covered easily, beating the Seahawks 36-20 behind Matt Ryan’s huge day. Last night, the Patriots pushed the favorites’ record to 6-0 with a 34-16 win over the Texans as a massive 16.5-point favorite. It took a late interception by New England to cap off a narrow cover, but the Pats got it done nonetheless.

Conventional wisdom would suggest that the Steelers and/or Packers will cover on Sunday. Underdogs are covering at a 49% clip this season and these trends have a way of evening out. Home favorites only hit at 50% during the regular season and right now they’re 100% in the playoffs. It could be time to fade the home fave.
