Falcons vs. Colts NFL Week 9 Odds
(The Spread) – Fresh off back-to-back wins and their bye week, the Falcons travel to Indianapolis this Sunday in search of their first three-game winning streak.
ATLANTA: The Falcons will get back to work following their bye in Week 8. They headed into the bye after beating the Lions 23-16 in Detroit, which was Atlanta’s second victory in as many weeks. With the Saints’ loss to the Rams last Sunday, it’s pivotal that Matt Ryan (1,683 yards) and Co. don’t fall victim to the same lackluster play that New Orleans displayed against St. Louis. It’ll help that rookie receiver Julio Jones (hamstring) is expected back this week.
INDIANAPOLIS: It was a different week but the same result for the Colts, who are now 0-8 following their 27-10 loss to the Titans in last Sunday. The team continues to struggle without Peyton Manning under center and with Curtis Painter (1,123) leading the offense. The Colts have failed to cover the spread in each of their last four weeks and now have to face an Atlanta team that’s confident and fresh coming off its bye. At least the Colts are at home, however, where they’re 1-2 against the number.
ODDS: The Falcons opened as 9-point favorites but the spread quickly dropped to 7 shortly after it opened. The Falcons have rarely been a team that has blown opponents out under Mike Smith and even though the Colts are winless, clearly some bettors view Indianapolis as a value as a touchdown dog at home. The over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 44.5 points.
TRENDS: The Falcons are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games against the Colts, who are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. Indy is also 0-4 ATS in its last four games overall and 2-5 ATS in its last seven games as an underdog. Atlanta, meanwhile, is 7-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 8-3 ATS in its last 11 November games.
