Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers completed 21-of-32 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers’ Week 14 win over the Falcons. It was all Rodgers in the first half of the post-Mike McCarthy era. He threw on seven of the nine plays on the opening drive, connecting with Davante Adams for a seven-yard touchdown to answer the Falcons’ opening score, and dropped back to throw on 26-of-32 plays in the first half including three scrambles for 44 yards. He probably should have thrown a pick-six in the second quarter, but he was able to break Tom Brady’s streak of 358 straight passes without an interception on an absolute dime to Randall Cobb for a 24-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the second half. Rodgers was not asked to do as much after that with the Packers up big, but he did come up with some key throws as the Packers looked to close out the game late. The box score is not impressive, but this was a good game from Rodgers. He will look to build on that next week in Chicago.
Chicago Bears
Mitchell Trubisky completed 16-of-30 passes for 110 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions in Chicago’s Week 14 win over the Rams. This was Trubisky’s first start since Week 11 after missing three games with a shoulder injury. He looked fully healthy, but had trouble getting on the same page with his receivers. All of Trubisky’s interceptions came on bad missed throws, and his only touchdown went to OL Bradley Sowell at the goal-line. Trubisky’s rushing remained a factor with 23 yards on the ground, but he’s now thrown for under 200 yards in three of his last five starts. Trubisky will try to rebound in Week 15 against the Packers.
