Have The Raiders Embraced Las Vegas?
The Las Vegas Raiders is a professional football team founded in Oakland in 1960. Ever since the 1960s, the Raiders have been on the move and constantly changing cities, such as Philadelphia, and Kansas City, to Oakland.
Now, they will settle in Las Vegas. Although the Raiders are not the first team to move to Vegas from Oakland since The Golden Knights got based in Vegas back in the summer of 2017. Therefore, there was already a precedent prior to the Raiders moving in.
Benefits for Las Vegas From the Deal
The relocation of the Raiders team to Vegas was done on June 15 Wednesday with the final approval of the Nevada Legislative branch to fund part of the construction of a one-billion-dollar stadium with a compatible roof. The supporters of the deal argue that this decision will help to cement the reputation of Las Vegas as the entertainment capital of the world.

Nevada state assembly finally approved a $380 million worth bill for the funding of the project. The Senate confirmed the bill with no debate, and On June 14, the bill got finally passed to the governor of Nevada during a legislative session as an emergency measure.
The Raiders’ Trouble Finding a Base
Note that this isn’t the first time the Raiders stepped away from Oakland. In 13 years, the Raiders have moved back to Oakland and are constantly having trouble finding a permanent home in Los Angeles, hoping to get established at the native Oakland Coliseum. The team hoped that the Coliseum would be demolished and replaced with a baseball stadium and a Raiders football arena divided by several restaurants, bars, and hotels.
By 2010 the Raiders lost hope for the Oakland plan and set their eyes on Los Angeles, where they wanted to share the same facility with the Chargers. Despite initially getting support from the owners of the NFL, they changed their minds quickly after making their original decision.
This isn’t the first time the Rams moved from Saint Louis to California. Both the Chargers and the Rams settled together in Saint Louis. Afterward, the Raiders tried to move to Saint Jose. Yet, their wish got blocked by the San Francisco Giants.
The Final Announcement
The first announcement, which led the Raiders to relocate to Vegas, was made during a Southern Nevada Tourism infrastructure committee. Mark Davis, the team’s general manager announced that he is pledging $500 million to the stadium construction project worth one billion dollars near the Las Vegas Strip; the majority of the NFL voted on allowing the New Vegas Raiders to relocate to Vegas. The CEO of the Sands, Sheldon Adelson, pledged $150 million, and the Nevada government subsidized the construction of the new stadium with a tower of $350 million with taxpayers’ money.
