Will road teams win again?

Last week was a very good week for road teams in the NFL Playoffs. Will that be the case again this week for the Divisional Round?

View NFL Odds

In four Wild Card games last week, the road team prevailed in all four contests, leaving four Wild Card teams to take on division champs this weekend. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the odds of just one of the Wild Card teams winning this weekend is set at +140 while odds of two of them winning is +200. Oddsmakers have three teams winning set at +900 while all four winning is listed at +3300. The odds of none of the four road teams winning this week is listed at +350.

All four road teams enter this weekend has underdogs, which is a big difference from last week where three of the four were favored. The smallest spread is for the Seattle Seahawks, who are 2.5-point underdogs at the Carolina Panthers. Carolina already owns a 27-23 win at Seattle this year, but the Seahawks have plenty of playoff experience and have won seven of their last eight.

The Kansas City Chiefs are a 5-point underdog heading to the New England Patriots on Saturday. The Chiefs beat the Pats 41-14 last season in their last meeting and are on an 11-game win streak. The Pats have lost two straight and four of their last six.

The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers each find themselves as 7-point underdogs. The Pack are facing the Arizona Cardinals while the Steelers meet the Denver Broncos. Green Bay just hasn’t shown the consistency to earn oddsmakers’ respect while the Steelers would be much closer in the odds if not for Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown dealing with injuries that have them questionable to play. Even if Roethlisberger were to play, he certainly won’t be 100 percent.
