Colts 2012-13 Season Odds
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (The Spread) – The Indianapolis Colts are in complete rebuilding mode and they’re projected to struggle this season.
Oddsmakers have set the Colts’ win total for the 2012 NFL Season at over/under 5, with the over carrying odds of –130 and the under carrying EVEN odds. The Colts are also 100/1 long shots to win the 2013 Super Bowl, 60/1 long shots to win the AFC Championship and 12/1 to win the AFC South.
The Colts were busy re-signing their own players during the offseason. They re-signed Reggie Wayne to a new three-year deal, as well as defensive end Robert Mathis to a new contract. They also inked free agents Samson Satele and Cory Redding, but lost Pierre Garcon, Jacob Tamme and of course, long-time franchise quarterback Peyton Manning, who signed a free agent deal with the Broncos this offseason.
To offset the loss of Manning, the Colts used the No. 1 overall pick on former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. In the second and third rounds, respectively, Indianapolis drafted tight ends Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen, as well as receiver T.Y. Hilton from Florida International.
Following the firing of Jim Caldwell, the team hired former Ravens defensive end Chuck Pagano, who will change the defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4. It’ll take time for Luck and Pagano adjust to their new roles in the NFL, as well as for the front office to re-stock this roster full of talent. In the short term, the post-Manning era will not be kind to the Colts.
