Titans vs. Jaguars Total Pick
Can the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans find themselves in a shootout today when the two division rivals meet up at 1PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Tennessee is favored on the road in this game, as the Titans are getting odds of -1.5 points against the Jaguars. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 41.5 points. The home team has won six straight in this series and they have hit the over in their last three games. Today’s game takes place from EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida and will air live on CBS.

Tennessee started its season with a 26-16 loss at home to Oakland, going under the 49.5-point total as well. Tennessee didn’t have its usual running dominance in the loss, as the Titans finished with just 95 yards on the ground. DeMarco Murray was held to 44 yards on 12 carries. Marcus Mariota was 25 of 41 passing for 256 yards and had a rushing touchdown. Including the preseason, the Titans have been held to 20 points or less inf our of their five games for 2017.
Jacksonville had one of the most surprising performances in Week 1, dominating the Texans in Houston for a 29-7 win while going under the low total of 38 points. The Jags were dominant on defense, holding Houston to just 203 total yards while racking up four turnovers and 10 sacks. Calais Campbell had four sacks to lead the way while Dante Fowler Jr. had a sack and a defensive touchdown. The Jacksonville offense wasn’t overly impressive, but didn’t need to be. Rookie Leonard Fournette rushed for 100 yards on 26 carries in his debut while Blake Bortles threw for 125 yards on 11 of 21 passing. One negative to come from the win was a key injury, as Allen Robinson blew out his knee and will miss the season. Robinson had 883 yards and six touchdowns a year ago.
Is the Jacksonville defense for real, or did it just take advantage of a bad Houston offense? We should find out today as the Jags face a more dynamic offense in Tennessee. The Titans didn’t move the ball well at home against an average Oakland defense, so more problems could exist today. The Titans have hit the under in five of their last six conference games while the Jaguars are 5-2 with the under in five of their last seven after a win of 14 points or more. I can see the under hitting today as Jacksonville’s offense likely won’t overwhelm Tennessee and the Jags may be able to stop the Titans’ offense.
