Hopkins set for big game?
DeAndre Hopkins is coming off his quietest performance of the season last week. Does that spell trouble for the Buffalo Bills today as they host Hopkins and the Houston Texans?
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, the Bills are favored at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Texans. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 41.5 points. These two meet today at 1PM ET on CBS.
Hopkins has had a breakout year for the Texans (6-5, 6-5 ATS). He has caught 81 passes for 1,081 yards and nine touchdowns this season, currently sitting third in the NFL in receiving yards. Despite that, Hopkins was limited to five catches for just 36 yards last week against the New Orleans Saints, his worst performance of the season. For today’s game with Buffalo (5-6, 5-5-1 ATS), Hopkins has an over/under of 6.5 receptions and 92.5 yards.
When you think of Rex Ryan, you usually think of defense, but Buffalo is actually 23rd in the NFL in passing defense, allowing 254.1 yards per game through the air. The Bills have also given up 13 touchdowns to receivers this season, which ranks in the bottom half of the league. Making matters worse for Buffalo is that Hopkins has rebounded very well from his quiet games. In the three previous games that Hopkins had 60 yards or less, he has bounced back the next week with at least 94 yards. He also caught at least one touchdown pass in all three of those games.
