Jeremy Shockey Props
How much of an impact with New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey have in Super Bowl XLIV? Let’s take a look at his prop odds for the big game.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have put together prop odds for Jeremy Shockey as the Saints get ready to take on the Indianapolis Colts in the 2010 Super Bowl. Among some of the props is how many total receiving yards Shockey will gain, what his longest reception will be (yardage-wise) and how many total receptions he’ll accumulate.
Shockey finished the regular season with 48 receptions for 569 yards and three touchdowns. His average yardage per catch was 11.9 and his longest catch went for 66 yards.
In the postseason, Shockey only racked up four catches for 45 yards and one touchdown, although it’s fair to note that he was battling an injury that he says is now close to 100%. He should be close to full strength for the Super Bowl unless he suffers a setback.
One prop that might offer some value is whether or not Shockey will score a touchdown on Super Bowl Sunday. A winning wager on “Yes” would net a better +280 on the money line, while a winning wager on “No” would pay out –360 on the money line.
If Shockey is healthy like he says he is, there’s a decent chance that he will reach pay dirt because the Colts’ defense is susceptible to getting beat by good tight ends. The Saints love to attack the middle of the field and Shockey presents a mismatch for the Colts’ safeties.
