New York Jets Fantasy Spin
Le’Veon Bell rushed 12 times for 49 yards in the Jets’ Week 12 win over the Raiders, adding five receptions for 59 additional yards. Bell was getting involved early and often in both the pass and run game, notably making a circus catch down the field after lining up in the slot on the Jets’ first offensive play of the game. The Jets haven’t really managed to get their run game started all season, but Bell’s continuing development as a receiver in this offense should help keep his fantasy floor and ceiling alike in a good spot down the stretch. The Jets’ featured RB is set up brilliantly in upcoming matchups against the Bengals in Week 13 and Dolphins in Week 14.
Cincinnati Bengals Fantasy Spin
Coach Zac Taylor confirmed that A.J. Green (ankle) is still day to day. Taylor clarified that the decision to bench Ryan Finley in favor of Andy Dalton has nothing to do with Green’s status. What a shame. Auden Tate and Alex Erickson will continue to flank Tyler Boyd in three-WR sets. They’ll all benefit from getting the Red Rifle back under center.
NFL Betting Trends
New York
The Jets are just 2-6-1 against the spread in their last nine games versus conference opponents.
Cincinnati
The Bengals have covered the spread in 22 of their last 30 games played in the month of December.
Prediction
This feels off backing the Jets as a road favorite but now is the time to hop on New York’s bandwagon. After missing several weeks due to mono, quarterback Sam Darnold has strung together three straight solid starts and will face a Bengals defense that has played better the past two weeks but has still struggled mightily overall. Bell should be able to capitalize on his matchup versus Cincinnati’s horrendous linebacking trio and while Andy Dalton’s return gives the Bengals a boost offensively, the Jets are currently playing their best defense. Sure, this feels like a trap game. But give me a hot Gang Green over a Bengals squad that hasn’t won a game all season.
