Jets vs. Dolphins Prediction
With a playoff berth on the line, the Dolphins will be forced to start third-stringer Skylar Thompson on Sunday against the Jets. Will New York play spoiler or will Miami emerge with a victory and a cover as a 3.5-point home favorite?

New York Jets DFS Spin
The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt reports Zach Wilson will be the Jets’ backup quarterback in Week 18 against the Dolphins. With Mike White out because of a rib injury, Joe Flacco was given the start for New York’s meaningless, Week 18 game. For a team that has already been reported to be all-in on Wilson going forward, giving Flacco the final start is funny in the darkest way possible. Assuming Wilson doesn’t see any action versus Miami, his second NFL campaign wraps up with 1,688 passing yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He averaged seven yards per attempt and completed 54.5 percent of his passes. Wilson didn’t appear to make any improvements upon his dreadful rookie season. White once again gave the Jets their best shot at winning games, a further indictment of Wilson’s abilities. It looks likely that Jets GM Joe Douglas will add a veteran quarterback to the roster in the offseason, putting Wilson at risk of spending his entire 2023 season as a backup. Per usual, the Jets’ quarterback situation is in flux once again as we head into the offseason.
Miami Dolphins DFS Spin
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 18 vs the Jets. Skylar Thompson will start with Teddy Bridgewater (questionable, knee) or Mike Glennon backing him up. Tua’s absence would be more of a concern if the Jets, who will start Joe Flacco in Week 18, weren’t dealing with similar injuries. Miami can clinch a Wild Card spot with a win and Patriots loss to Buffalo on Sunday.

Jets vs. Dolphins Prediction:
The Jets are just 2-7-1 against the spread in their last 10 games versus the Dolphins and are 1-4-1 against the number in their last six games in Miami. The Jets have also failed to cover in four of their last five games overall, are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games played in the month of January and are 1-5 at the betting window in their last six games after allowing less than 150 yards passing in their previous contest. The Dolphins are starting Thompson but that’s negated by the fact the Jets are starting Joe Flacco behind a porous offensive line. I’ve got no issues laying 3.5 points with the better team that has something to play for today.
