Jets vs. Patriots Week 3 Prediction
NFL bettors will have to lay over three touchdowns on Sunday if they want to take the Patriots over the visiting Jets at 1:00 p.m. ET. Despite covering last week as a massive favorite in Miami, should Tom Brady and Co. be fade material in Week 3?

New York Jets Fantasy Spin
Jets WR Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) is doubtful for the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Patriots. Robby Anderson and Josh Bellamy will continue to work as the Jets’ outside WRs during DT’s absence, while Jamison Crowder will serve as the slot WR. Anderson showed early chemistry with third-string QB Luke Falk, but he’s posted 2-34-0, 0-0-0, 4-76-0, 1-2-0, 2-22-0 and 3-24-0 lines in six career matchups vs. Bill Belichick and company.
New England Patriots Fantasy Spin
Patriots released WR Antonio Brown. The Pats confirmed the move with the following statement: “The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown. We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.” The move comes amidst increasingly disturbing reports regarding Brown’s involvement in various sexual assault accusations. The Patriots will move forward with Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman and Phillip Dorsett in 3-WR sets. There is a strong chance 31-year-old Brown never plays another down of NFL football.
NFL Betting Trends
New York
The Jets are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games and have failed to cover in seven of their last eight divisional matchups, too.
New England
The Patriots are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine divisional games and have covered the spread in 42 of their last 17 games overall.
Prediction
Everything screams to take the Patriots and lay the 21 points. The Jets will be without several pieces on both sides of the ball and none of the historical trends favor Gang Green either. New York is 1-4 against the spread in its last five games against the Patriots and 0-3-1 ATS in its last four trips to Foxborough. That said, this is simply too many points for a divisional matchup, especially after the Patriots won back-to-back blowout games. The lookahead line was Patriots -10 at the start of the year and while that line factored in a healthy Sam Darnold, I can’t bring myself to lay 21 points in a game the Patriots may sleepwalk through and still win by 17.
