Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Chiefs are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Chargers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 53.5 points. As of this writing, 62% of the public betting tickets are on the Chiefs to cover the point spread.
Los Angeles Chargers
Melvin Gordon (knee) is questionable for Thursday night’s Week 15 game against the Chiefs. Gordon traveled with the team to Kansas City and is shaping up for now as a game-time decision. Austin Ekeler (neck, concussion) has already been ruled out, so it’ll either be Gordon and Justin Jackson or Jackson and UDFA rookie Detrez Newsome. If Gordon suits up, he’s a must-play in redraft.
Kansas City Chiefs
ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirms Tyreek Hill (questionable, heel/wrist) will play Week 15 against the Chargers. Hill is contending with heel and wrist injuries, but even with the short week, he’ll be out there Thursday night as Kansas City seeks to clinch the AFC West for the third straight season. Hill dominated his matchup with Casey Hayward when these teams met in Week 1, exploding for 169 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches. Even at less than 100 percent, he’ll be safe to fire up as a WR1 in all formats.
NFL Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Chargers have covered the spread in 15 of their last 22 road games versus a team with a winning home record.
Kansas City
The Chiefs have covered in six of their last seven games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous contest.
Prediction
The Chiefs have owned the Chargers in this series, winning nine straight over the Chargers and posting a 7-2 ATS record in the process. Kansas City hasn’t just been good against the Chargers, the Chiefs have also won 20 of their last 21 division games as well. Philip Rivers has also struggled when facing Kansas City defensive coordinator Bob Sutton, throwing 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions against Sutton’s defenses. The Chargers have averaged just over 15 points per game versus the Chiefs in their last 10 games against Sutton/KC. Finally, the Bolts are winless at 0-4 against the spread in their last four games versus the Chiefs.
NFL Week 15 Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs -3.5
