Lions vs. Giants Free Pick
One week after securing their first win of the season, the Lions will travel to East Rutherford to take on a surging Giants team. Read on to check out our pick for this Week 6 matchup.
Before we get to our pick, let’s take a look at the latest odds for this game.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Giants a 10-point favorite over the Lions in Week 6. The over/under is currently set at 44.5 points.
The Lions are 1-4 on the year, but they’ve been fantastic for their backers, covering the spread in four of those five games. They’re 0-3 on the road this year, but 2-1 against the number.
The Giants, meanwhile, have won three of their first five games and are 3-2 against the spread. They’re also 2-1 at Giants Stadium this year and have covered in two of those three games.
The Pick:
The Giants look like they’re figuring things out, but the Lions have been a solid bet all year and there’s no reason to think they won’t cover a double-digit spread a week after they won their first game. The underdog is 4-1 against the number in the last five meetings between these two teams, while the road squad is 5-0 ATS in the last five games. That bodes well for a Lions team that should have plenty of confidence heading into this contest.
Our pick is the Lions, although we are weary of Calvin Johnson’s health status. If he can’t play, that means both him and Matthew Stafford will be out of Detroit’s lineup, which is troubling. That said, the G-Men have a history of playing down to their competition, so we like the dog here.
