Vikings on back-to-back wins
The Minnesota Vikings have picked up back-to-back wins over the Eagles and Cardinals to move to 3-2-1 on the season. Minnesota is 3-2-1 against the spread as well while going 3-3 with the over/under total.
The Vikings have a powerful passing attack that is averaging 320.2 yards per game. Minnesota is putting up a total of 23.3 points and 407.5 yards per game. Kirk Cousins has thrown for 1,921 yards and 12 touchdowns, but has been sacked 18 times. Adam Thielen is having an amazing year, catching 58 passes for 712 yards and four touchdowns. He has over 100 yards in every game this season. Defensively, Minnesota is giving up 24.7 points and 385.2 yards per game. Their run defense is allowing 92.8 yards per game. They have 18 sacks as a unit, with Danielle Hunter leading the way with seven.
Jets get back on track
The New York Jets were on a three-game losing streak not long ago, but have come up with back-to-back wins at home over the Broncos and the Colts. New York is now 3-3 on the season, 3-3 against the spread and 4-2 with the over.
New York has been able to get hot thanks to a run game that is averaging 130 yards per game, but has really heated up in recent weeks. The Jets now average 27.5 points and 354.7 total yards per game on offense. Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell have combined for 753 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold has thrown or 1,346 yard with nine touchdowns, but also has seven interceptions. Defensively, New York is giving up 23.2 points and 401 yards per game. Their pass defense is allowing 292 yards per game. The unit has created 15 turnovers and has 14 sacks.
NFL Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Vikings have covered the spread in seven of their last 10 road games and they are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games in October.
New York
The Jets are 8-0-1 ATS in their last nine games in October and 10-2 against the spread in their last 12 home games.
Prediction:
While the Jets are playing well recently, I don’t think this is a good matchup for them against the Vikings. Minnesota has a strong run defense and the Jets will need to run the ball well. New York also has a very questionable passing defense and is facing one of the best pass attacks in the league. Minnesota just seems to have the right recipe to pick up this win and cover on the road.
NFL Prediction: Minnesota Vikings -3.5
