Falcons vs. Saints Injury Report

Will the Falcons have a healthy receiving corps tonight against the Saints? How banged-up is New Orleans? Here’s a quick injury report on tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Saints are now 2.5-point home favorites versus the Falcons while the over/under currently sits at 53.5 points. While the total hasn’t moved off the original number, the point spread dipped from New Orleans -3 down to -2.5 over the past 24 hours.

Here’s a look at tonight’s key injuries:

Julio Jones: The Falcons’ No. 1 receiver suffered an ankle injury in preseason that has hobbled him in each of the first two games of the season. He then suffered a minor calf injury in Atlanta’s win at Oakland in Week 2, which caused him to miss multiple practices late last week. FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported that Jones was a full-go in Sunday’s walkthrough, however, and coach Dan Quinn reportedly told Glazer the Falcons expect the receiver to play tonight.

Mohamed Sanu: Sanu suffered an ankle injury in the Falcons’ Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers and was seen in the locker room with a boot on his leg following the game. That said, Sanu was healthy enough to play in Week 2 at Oakland and was removed from the team’s Week 3 injury report after missing practice last Thursday. The No. 2 receiver will be in uniform tonight.

Keanu Neal: The Falcons’ first-round pick in April didn’t play in either of the team’s first two games due to a knee injury. But Neal has been cleared for tonight and will start over Kemal Ishmael. Expect the rookie to be on a snap count, however.

De’Vondre Campbell: The Falcons’ rookie linebacker has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Campbell missed last week’s win over the Raiders and was replaced by Sean Weatherspoon in the starting lineup. With backup Paul Worrilow also out, Weatherspoon will see a heavy dose of action tonight.

Terron Armstead: The Saints’ starting left tackle has been ruled out with knee and quad injuries. That means 2015 first-round pick Andrus Peat will start at left tackle and protect Drew Brees’ blindside.

Willie Snead: The receiver is questionable with a toe injury and will be a game-time decision for tonight’s game. Snead is off to a fantastic start this season but the Saints do have a quality replacement ready to go in second-round pick Michael Thomas.

P.J. Williams: The corner was placed on injured reserve due to a concussion (although Williams thankfully avoided a spinal injury). Undrafted free agent Ken Crawley will replace Williams in base sets, leaving an already vulnerable Saints defense woefully thin at cornerback.
