NEW YORK: The Jets won for the second straight week when they beat the Jaguars 17-10 last Sunday. Mark Sanchez completed 12-of-19 passes for 111 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, while Bilal Powell rushed 19 times for 78 yards with one touchdown. Shonn Greene also rushed 20 times for 77 yards and a score, while Jeremy Kerley caught four passes for 27 yards. The victory improved the Jets record at 6-7 and 7-6 against the spread as they covered as a 3-point road favorite. As previously stated, the Jets are still mathematically alive for a postseason berth in the AFC.
TENNESSEE: The Titans lost for the third straight week when they fell 27-23 to the Colts in Indianapolis. Jake Locker completed 22-of-35 passes for 262 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, and also rushed for 51 yards on four scrambles. Meanwhile, Kenny Britt had a great day with 143 yards on eight catches, and rookie Kendall Wright had five catches for 39 yards. The turning point in the game was when Locker threw a pick-six to Cassius Vaughn when Tennessee was backed up to its own end zone. The loss dropped the Titans to 4-9 overall and 4-9 against the spread as they’ve failed to cover in three straight weeks (although some books had them as a 4.5-point underdog last week, meaning they would have covered). Tennessee is mathematically out of the playoffs.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Titans are 1-point favorites versus the Jets, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 41 points. New York is 6-7 overall and 3-3 on the road, while Tennessee is 4-9 overall and 2-4 at home.
TRENDS: The Jets are 6-0 against the spread in their last six meetings with the Titans and 4-0 ATS in their last four trips to Tennessee. The road team is also 5-2 against the number in the last seven meetings between these two teams and the underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
