49ers vs. Cardinals Week 8 MNF Odds
PHOENIX, AZ (The Spread) – NFC West rivals clash on Monday Night Football in Week 8 when the Cardinals host the 49ers at 8:30PM ET.
SAN FRANCISCO: The 49ers squeaked by the Seahawks 13-6 last Thursday when Alex Smith completed 14-of-23 passes for 140 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Frank Gore had a great night on the ground, rushing for 131 yards on 16 carries, and he also caught five passes for 51 yards. The win was the 49ers’ fifth of the season and now they own sole possession of first place in the NFC West. They failed to cover the 7.5-point spread (coach Jim Harbaugh declined to accept a safety at the end of the game that would have allowed San Francisco to cover), so the Niners are now 4-3 against the spread this season. The under is also 4-2 in San Francisco’s first seven games, with one game (Week 2 versus Detroit) being a push.
ARIZONA: The wheels have fallen off for the Cardinals after they started the season 4-0. They’re now 4-3 after losing 21-14 to the Vikings as a 7-point road underdog in Week 7. John Skelton completed 25-of-36 passes for 262 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while LaRod Stephens-Howling rushed 20 times for 104 yards and one score. Andre Roberts led the team in receiving with seven catches for 103 yards and one touchdown. Arizona is now 3-3-1 against the spread and the under is 6-1 in the team’s first seven games.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the 49ers are 7-point favorites over the Cardinals, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 38.5 points. The 49ers enter this game with a straight up record of 5-2 and are 4-3 against the spread, while the Cardinals are 4-3 straight up and 3-3-1 ATS.
TRENDS: The 49ers are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Cardinals and 5-1 ATS in their last six games in Arizona. The home team, however, is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams, while the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Arizona.
