Patriots 2012 Season Odds
FOXBORO, NE (The Spread) – Despite losing in the title game a few months back, the New England Patriots are favored to win the 2013 Super Bowl.
According to oddsmakers the Patriots are 11/2 to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 11/4 to win the 2013 AFC Championship Game. They’re also –400 to win the AFC East Division, making them the favorites, and have an over/under total of 12 for number of regular season wins.
The Patriots upgraded their wide receiver corps with the free agent addition of Brandon Lloyd, who was with the Broncos and Rams last season. They lost running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis to the Bengals and the team decided not to re-sign defensive end Andre Carter. The Pats did re-sign center Dan Koppen, however.
The Patriots had two first-round picks in this year’s draft. They took Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones with the 21st overall selection and Alabama linebacker Dont’a Hightower with the 25th overall pick. In the second the Pats took Illinois safety Tavon Wilson and in the third they selected Arkansas defensive end Jake Bequette.
The Patriots remain the class of the AFC East and while some believe the Bills could make some noise in the division, it’s unlikely that Buffalo will challenge New England. The Jets’ offense failed to score a touchdown in preseason and continues to struggle behind a shaky offensive line. Thus, the path is clear for the Patriots to reach the playoffs as one of the top seeds and with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick running the show, they will challenge for another Super Bowl berth.
