Giants 2012-13 Season Odds
NEW YORK, NY (The Spread) – Will the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants win over or under nine games this season? Let’s take a look at the G-Men’s season odds.
According to oddsmakers the Giants are 22/1 to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 11/1 to win the 2013 NFC Championship. The G-Men are also 2/1 to win the NFC East Division this season and have an over/under win total of 9.
The Giants were able to re-sign Terrell Thomas this offseason but the cornerback might miss the rest of the season due to an injury. That would be a blow to a Giants team that lost cornerback Aaron Ross to the Jaguars in free agency. Receiver Mario Manningham also left via free agency after signing a two-year deal with the 49ers, but the Giants were able to add tight end Martellus Bennett, formerly of the Cowboys.
In the draft the Giants added a pair of offensive weapons in first-rounder David Wilson and second-rounder Reuben Randle. In the third round New York went defense with the section of Virginia Tech cornerback Jayron Hosley and in the fourth the G-Men nabbed Cincinnati tight end Adrien Robinson and Auburn offensive tackle Brandon Mosely.
If you’re wondering why the Giants’ over/under total for wins is “low” at 9, keep in mind they won the Super Bowl last year despite only winning nine games. The NFC East is tough from top to bottom (especially with the Redskins improving their roster in the offseason) and it’s tough to win over 10 games in the division. The other thing to keep in mind is that the Giants now have a bulls-eye on their backs after winning the Super Bowl. So even with Eli Manning and that fierce pass rush, it’ll be tough for New York to win more than nine or 10 games this season but the Giants certainly have the talent to do so.
