Ben McAdoo takes over for Tom Coughlin, who coached the team for 12 seasons and won two Super Bowls. However, three straight losing seasons led both the team and the coach to come to a decision to part ways. McAdoo was the OC and now takes over as head coach for the first time in his career.

The Giants maintain their franchise leader at QB in Eli Manning. Manning is actually coming off one of his better seasons, throwing for 4,436 yards and 35 touchdowns with just 14 interceptions. The 35 touchdowns were a career-high for the veteran. Manning has found his stud WR in Odell Beckham Jr., who caught 96 passes for 1,450 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He has now emerged as one of the top receivers in the NFL. The key is finding another receiver to pair with him. The team drafted rookie Sterling Shepard from Oklahoma in the second round, hoping he could possibly fill that role. New York could use some more help in the run game. Rashad Jennings was the leading rusher, but had just 863 yards and three touchdowns in 2015.

On defense, the Giants were dead last in the NFL in passing defense in 2015. They have attempted to fix that in free agency and the NFL Draft. The team picked CB Eli Apple from Ohio State at No. 10 overall and then added Boise State safety Darian Thompson in the third round. They also signed Janoris Jenkins from the Rams to really put a new look to the secondary. The defense also added DE Olivier Vernon and DT Damon Harrison in free agency in hopes to improve the pass rush. The Giants had just 23 sacks in 2015.

Injuries played somewhat of a role in the struggled for New York last year, but a big part was just the mistakes we have grown to see New York make. Eight of their 10 losses came by 6 points or less, so they aren’t far from being a good team again. The offense should certainly put up points, the big question is can the defense keep the points off? New York seems to have done the right thing in the offseason, adding pieces in the right places. The Giants shouldn’t need a transition period under McAdoo, since he was already with the team in previous seasons. Look for a bounce back season in New York
