Jets 2012-13 Season Odds
NEW YORK, NY (The Spread) – Thanks to Tim Tebow the New York Jets have received first-rate coverage this offseason but odds makers view Rex Ryan’s squad as merely a .500 team.
Oddsmakers have installed the Jets as 30/1 long shots to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 14/1 to win the 2013 AFC Championship. They’re also 6/1 to win the AFC East Division this season and have an over/under win total of 8 for number of wins in the 2012-13 regular season.
The Jets were able to re-sign Sione Pouha to a new three-year deal and the team also inked free agent LaRon Landry (Redskins) to a one-year deal. And, of course, who could forget New York’s acquisition of Tim Tebow this summer? ESPN certainly won’t.
In the draft, the Jets selected North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples with their first-round pick and then took Georgia Tech wide receiver Stephen Hill with their second-round pick. In the third New York selected Arkansas State outside linebacker Demario Davis and in the sixth the Jets took three players: Josh Bush (Wake Forest), Terrance Ganaway (Baylor), and Robert T. Griffin (Baylor).
The Jets had issues with their offensive line last week and their running game suffered. They missed the playoffs for the first time since Ryan was hired in 2009 and questions were once again raised about quarterback Mark Sanchez. New York’s defense will once again be stout but will Sanchez cut down on the mistakes and lead the Jets back to the playoffs? Can his offensive line rebound from a shaky in 2011 performance? Plenty of questions surrounds this team heading into the new season.
