NFC Championship Game Odds: Vikings Open as Favorites vs. Eagles 1/15/18

Eagles to Play Underdog Role Again

The Eagles will have another opportunity to wear their dog masks this week as they’ve opened up as an underdog against the Vikings in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Eagles are a 3.5-point underdog to beat the Vikings at 6:40 p.m. ET on Sunday. Minnesota opened as a 3.5-point favorite so as of this writing, there has been no line movement. That contrasts with the AFC title game, as the Patriots opened as an 8.5-point favorite but the line moved a full point to 9.5.

The total for Sunday’s NFC title game hasn’t moved off the opening number either. After hitting the board at 38, that’s where it currently sits at both online and Vegas sports books. While the Vikings went over the total in their stunning 29-24 victory over the Saints in the Divisional Round, the Eagles and Falcons fell well under their total on Saturday.

Bet NFL Championship Sunday Games

The early betting for this game is on Minnesota. As of Monday morning, 52% of betting tickets and 60% of the money is on the Vikings to cover the spread. Some books are already playing with the juice. While Philadelphia is +3.5 at the window, the juice on an Eagles wager is -115.

Meanwhile, 53% of betting tickets are on the over for Sunday’s NFC Championship but 63% of the money is on the under. It’s too early to tell if we have a “Joes versus Pros” contrast with the total but it’ll be interesting to see if public bettors decide to take the over while wiseguys play the under.

Speaking of the under, in the last four meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia, the final score fell under the betting total all four times. The under is also 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall.

The underdog, meanwhile, is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams while the Vikings are just 2-6 against the number in their last eight games versus the Eagles. Minnesota hasn’t had much betting success in Philly either, going 1-4 at the betting window in its last five road games against the Eagles.
