SAN FRANCISCO: The 49ers used a strong defensive effort to beat the Saints 31-21 in New Orleans last Sunday. Colin Kaepernick completed 16-of-25 passes for 231 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while also rushing six times for 27 yards and one touchdown. Frank Gore added 83 yards rushing on 19 carries and Michael Crabtree caught three passes for 26 yards. The win was the Niners’ second in a row and they’re now 8-2-1 on the season and 7-4 against the spread after successfully covering as a 1-point favorite last week. San Fran now owns a two-game lead over Seattle in the NFC West for first place in the division.
ST. LOUIS: The Rams got back in the win column last week following a five-game winless streak dating back to a 17-14 loss to the Dolphins on October 14. Steven Jackson rushed 24 times for 139 yards in the team’s 31-17 victory over the Cardinals in Arizona, while rookie Chris Givens caught five passes for 115 yards and one touchdown. Fellow first-year player Janoris Jenkins added two pick-sixes as the Rams defense intercepted rookie Ryan Lindley four times in the victory. The win improved St. Louis’ record to 4-6-1 overall and 7-4 against the spread as the team covered as a 1-point road underdog. A win over the 49ers on Sunday would run the Rams’ record to 4-0-1 in the NFC West this season.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the 49ers are 7-point favorites over the Rams, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 40 points. San Francisco is 8-2-1 overall and 4-1 on the road, while St. Louis is 4-6-1 overall and 3-3 at home.
