2013 NFC North Division Odds
(The Spread) – After winning the division last season rather easily, the Green Bay Packers are once again favored to win the NFC North in 2012-13.
Oddsmakers have installed the Packers as -250 money line favorites to win the NFC North this season, while the Chicago Bears have the next best odds at +350. The Detroit Lions are a very comparable +500, while the Minnesota Vikings are the long shots at +2500.
The Bears made the biggest splash this offseason when they traded for former Broncos and Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall. Chicago also beefed up its backfield depth by signing Michael Bush and re-signed franchise player Matt Forte. In the draft, the Bears selected Boise State defensive end Shea McClellin in the first, South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffery in the second and Oregon State free safety Brandon Hardin in the third.
As for the defending division champions, the Packers selected USC defender Nick Perry, who is expected to rush the passer opposite Clay Matthews in Dom Capers’ defense. Michigan State defensive tackle Jerel Worthy and Vanderbilt cornerback Casey Hayward were Green Bay’s two second-round picks.
After plenty of speculation of what they were going to do, the Vikings wound up selecting USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil, who is expected to anchor the left tackle position for Minnesota. The Vikes also nabbed Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith in the first round.
As for the Lions, they’ve had a rather eventful offseason but for all the wrong reasons. Four players have been arrested this offseason, including Johnny Culbreath, Mikel Leshoure (twice), Nick Fairley (twice) and Aaron Berry (twice).
The Packers also have the best odds to win the 2013 Super Bowl at 6/1, while the Bears are 16/1 and the Lions are 22/1. The Vikings are the long shots to win the NFL championship next year at 150/1.
