2023 NFL Draft: Who Goes 1st, 2nd & 3rd
With the 2023 NFL Draft fast approaching, there will be many football fans that will be getting excited about the prospect of seeing which college talents their favorite team will be selecting as the future of their franchise.
The draft offers teams the opportunity to find a new diamond from the college system that could end up ultimately becoming one of the next legends of the team’s history and hopefully help them to challenge for a Super Bowl title – or multiple over the course of the player’s career.
The first round is always the most anticipated, with the better players to typically come off the board at the beginning, while the rest of the process can sometimes find hidden talents that were not recognized at the combine or acknowledged properly by scouts across the league.
When is the 2023 NFL Draft?
Football fans do not have to wait too much longer for the 2023 National Football League Draft, as the first round will take place on April 27. It will take place in a plaza that is situated just outside Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri. The draft will then continue for two further days as it will conclude on April 29.
Fans from all over the world will tune in to watch what happens on Thursday once the first round gets underway, as so many want to see who their teams will pick with their first choice. Some organizations may look to trade to move higher up the board, which adds to the excitement and gives viewers a real thrill about what might happen.
The First Three Picks Are Always Highly Anticipated
While there is always a buzz about the very first pick of the draft and who might be selected, there is always excitement about the second and third picks, too. This is only natural, as it typically means the three best players – whether from the same position on the gridiron or from different areas – are selected.
In fact, there is normally such a huge buzz about these picks, that many get involved in a number of ways. Some will host viewing parties with their friends and fellow fans, while others will even look to place wagers on who might get selected. It can be possible to find competitive NFL odds being made available during the draft, which fans are able to utilize. Those selected could also have an influence on the prices that teams are given ahead of the upcoming season and their quest for a Super Bowl, too.
2023 First-Round Pick
This year, the Carolina Panthers hold the very first pick of the draft, and it would seem that they will be looking to select a quarterback with their choice. The QB room looks a little light, and now could be the perfect time to bring in a player in that position, perhaps to learn from the experienced Andy Dalton. Bryce Young is believed to be a favorite at this moment.
The Alabama quarterback has been impressive throughout his college career and has impressed at the combine and workouts that have been held.
Houston Texans Likely To Go For QB with Second Pick
The Houston Texans are second in this year’s draft, and it is likely that they will opt for a quarterback when it is their turn to select, too. Much like the Panthers, they need to add someone to their QB room, and it could be argued that starting afresh in the position is the best way for the franchise to look to move forward.
Many mock drafts have had them looking at going for CJ Stroud from Ohio State, or if he goes first, then going for Young instead.
Third Pick Could Be the Most Interesting
At this moment, the Arizona Cardinals have the third pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, however that could all change on the night. There are a number of rumors and speculation suggesting that a trade could happen. The Tennessee Titans are thought to be one of the teams potentially interested in moving up the board, as they also want to get their hands on a QB with Anthony Richardson out of Florida an attractive option.
The Cardinals could look to use their position as leverage and try and get a good deal for themselves, as they know they are not in a place where they need to get a new addition to that part of the locker room and can likely wait for who they want.
