Which Team Will Sign Derek Carr?
Which team will Derek Carr take his next regular season sap? The Saints are currently favorite to land Carr but is there a team with more betting value?
The Odds
The Saints are +250 to land Carr this offseason, while the Jets are +400 and the Bucs are +450. The Colts have +500 odds, followed by the Panthers at +550 and the Commanders and Titans at +750, respectively. The Patriots, meanwhile, are +1200, followed by the Packers at +1500 and the Texans at +2000.
Derek Carr Next Team Prediction
I like the Panthers at +550. Carr already rejected a trade to the Saints and while he could strike a deal with New Orleans, the team doesn’t have much cap space. It would take much for a team like the Panthers to outbid the Saints given New Orleans’ cap issues.
While the NFC South was a dumpster fire last season, the Panthers were still in contention late in the year despite firing head coach Matt Rhule and trading Christian McCaffrey midseason. Over the last two offseasons, the Panthers were also active when it came to the quarterback market, first trading for former third overall pick Sam Darnold of the Jets in 2021 and former first overall pick Baker Mayfield in 2022. Carr is better and more established than both.
The Jets would also make some sense, but I wonder if they’re going to set their sights on Aaron Rodgers when the weirdo gets out of that dark hole he’s been in to meditate. Rodgers could also make sense for the Raiders, as he could reunite with his former No. 1 wideout Devante Adams.
As for other teams, the Bucs have similar cap problems as the Saints and the Colts could land their franchise quarterback in the draft. The same goes for the Texans, who currently own the No. 2 pick in April.
Give me Carolina +550 to land Carr this offseason.
