NFL Week 10 Betting Recap
How did the favorites and underdogs do in Week 10 of the NFL? Here’s a betting recap on who covered and who fell short at the betting window.
Favorites vs. Underdogs
Through Sunday night’s action in the NFL, favorites were 7-5 against the spread. There was one push, which occurred on Thursday night when the Seahawks beat the Cardinals 22-16 as a 6-point road favorite. The favorites who covered were the Lions (-10), Saints (-2), Bucs (-1), Rams (-13), Vikings (-1), Falcons (-3.5) and Patriots (-7), who were a massive public team on Sunday Night Football.
Overs vs. Unders
Of the 13 games that have been played in Week 10, overs hit seven times and unders cashed six. In the two primetime games, the under cashed on Thursday night in the aforementioned Seattle-Arizona game, while the over hit easily in the New England-Denver Sunday night clash. The lowest total, which was 37.5 in the Green Bay-Chicago game, went over and the highest total, which was in the Dallas-Atlanta matchup, went under 49.
How the Public Fared
The public did fairly well. The Lions hit a front-door cover as a 10-point home favorite against the Browns late in the fourth quarter of their 38-24 victory. The Steelers failed to cover as a 10.5-point favorite in their narrow 20-17 win over the Colts, but the Saints rolled to a 47-10 win as a 3-point favorite against the Bills in Buffalo. The Rams were also a massive public favorite and they covered easily in their 33-7 win over the Texans as a 13-point favorite. The Cowboys, a rare underdog that the public liked, did bettors no favors in their 27-7 collapse to the Falcons but the Patriots, who were books’ biggest liability, rolled easily to a 41-16 victory over the Broncos.
Monday Night Matchup
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Panthers are a 9-point home favorite tonight against the Dolphins for Monday Night Football. The line opened at Carolina -7.5 but the number jumped to 9 at most sportsbooks. As for the total, the number hit the board at 39.5 but was bet up a full point to 38.5.
