NFL Conference Championships: How The Bookies Are Making A Profit

Conference Championship Preview

The NFL Conference Championships take place this Sunday on January 21. Many sports bettors have already done most of their handicapping for both games.

It might be helpful for sports bettors to see what online bookie agents are thinking, though.

2018 NFL Conference Championships

Keep reading for information on how pay per head agents are going to profit from both NFL Conference Championship games happening this Sunday, January 21st.

Jacksonville Jaguars +9 at New England Patriots -9

The Jacksonville Jaguars head to Foxboro, MA as a huge +9-dog. Based on that spread, it’s obvious that Vegas odds makers believe the money should flow onto the New England Patriots.

It’s rare to find a -9 favorite in an NFL Playoff game. Not in this age of NFL parity.

When it comes to what per head agents do with this game, it should depend on the action in their specific sportsbooks. So far, 61% of bettors are grabbing the 9-points on the Jags.

Only 39% of bettors are willing to lay the -9 on the Patriots.

Every bookie is different, though. If more action is on the Patriots than the Jags, the bookmaker might just go ahead and utilize his or her layoff account.

If more action is on the Jags, again, the bookie might use his or her layoff account. If a bookmaker feels that the Jaguars can cover the spread, and more action is on the Pats, the bookmaker could try for a big score by not using her layoff account.

One thing’s for sure, expect max betting limits on the Jaguars to beat the Patriots straight up.

Jacksonville matches up well with New England.

Minnesota Vikings -3 at Philadelphia Eagles +3

Per NFL handicappers, this is a much more even battle. The spread is almost where it should be because 51% are siding with the home team Eagles, while 49% are siding with the road team Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings beat the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round. Minnesota needed a miracle last second play to do it.

The Eagles beat the Atlanta Falcons in the Divisional Round via a workmanlike performance.

This game could go either way both straight up and against the spread. It makes sense that it’s almost even as to which NFL handicappers favor the Vikings and which favor the Eagles.

When it comes to even games, pay per head agents don’t mess around. Most agents will use their layoff account if they must.

Also, sports bettors shouldn’t be surprised if agents promote Minny at Philly to no end. There’s some interest outside of Jacksonville and New England fans in the AFC Championship.

New England is a popular football team with one of the most popular NFL players as it’s quarterback.

It’s difficult to see a lot of NFL fans caring too much about Minnesota at Philadelphia. Outside of Vikings and Eagles fans, there might not be a lot of interest on the NFC Championship.
