NFL Divisional Round Picks: Seahawks vs. Falcons to be high-scoring? 1/14/17

Seahawks vs. Falcons Pick

With the total sitting at 51.5, will Saturday’s Divisional Round matchup between the Seahawks and Falcons be high-scoring for bettors?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Falcons are now 5-point home favorites versus the Seahawks after opening as a 3.5-point favorite. As for the total, the number hit the board at 49 and has been bet up a full 2.5 points to 51.5.

The Seahawks could have rookie running back C.J. Prosise (shoulder) back this Saturday when they take on the Falcons in Atlanta. Coach Pete Carroll said that Prosise will only be cleared for the Divisional Round if he can go “full speed” in practice. If he is cleared, the speedy Prosise would be a nice complement to the more bruising Thomas Rawls in Seattle’s backfield.

The only small bit of injury news affecting the Falcons is that tight end Austin Hooper (knee) could return from a three-week absence to play on Saturday. The rookie didn’t have a huge role in Atlanta’s No. 1-ranked offense but he’s a solid red zone target nonetheless. Julio Jones, Taylor Gabriel and corner Robert Alford are all expected to be healthy for this weekend’s game.

OUR PREDICTION: The Falcons have been a perfect ‘over’ play all season and this matchup has led to some high-scoring games in the past. The over has cashed in five of the last six meetings between these two teams and is a perfect 8-0 in the Falcons’ last eight home games. The over is also 5-0 in the Falcons’ last five playoff home games, is 10-1-1 in their last 12 conference games and is 13-2-1 in their last 16 games overall. On the other side, the over is 6-2 in the Seahawks’ last eight playoff road games and is 5-2 in their last seven playoff games overall.
