Vikings vs. Rams Week 15 Odds
ST. LOUIS, MO (The Spread) – Two teams fighting for one of the two wild card spots in the NFC will square off in St. Louis on Sunday when the Rams host the Vikings at 1:00PM ET.
MINNESOTA: The Vikings snapped a two-game losing streak with a 21-14 victory over the Bears in Minnesota last Sunday. MVP candidate Adrian Peterson rushed for 154 yards on 31 carries with two touchdowns, which allowed Christian Ponder to only throw the ball 17 times. Ponder finished with just 91 yards and one interception but Peterson and the Viking defense took care of the rest. Rookie safety Harrison Smith also intercepted Jay Cutler and returned the gift 56 yards for a touchdown. At 7-6 the Vikings remain in the mix for a wild card berth in the NFC but they need to beat the Rams on Sunday or else they’ll need a lot of help in the final two weeks.
ST. LOUIS: The Rams have now won three in a row after yet another come-from-behind victory last Sunday versus the Bills. In their 15-12 win, the Rams needed a late Sam Bradford touchdown pass to Brandon Gibson with under a minute to play, as well as a Jo-Lonn Dunbar interception to seal the victory. Bradford threw for just 209 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while Gibson had a fantastic day finishing with 100 yards on six receptions. (He also had the one touchdown.) St. Louis has now put itself in the playoff mix with a 6-6-1 record and is now 9-4 against the spread this season. With games versus Minnesota, Tampa Bay and Seattle coming up over the last three weeks of the season, the Rams need to win out to have a shot at securing one of the final two playoff spots.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rams are 1-point favorites over the Vikings, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 38 points. Minnesota is 7-6 overall and 1-5 on the road, while St. Louis is 6-6-1 overall and 4-3 at home this season.
TRENDS: The over is 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams in St. Louis and 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall. The favorite is also 6-0 in the last six meetings, while the home team is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings. The Vikings, meanwhile, are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Rams, who are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games versus Minnesota.
