Bet on Lions vs. Cowboys

The Lions can clinch a playoff spot with a win as they sit at 9-5 on the year. Regardless of today’s outcome, Detroit will host Green Bay next week for the NFC North title. The Lions had a five-game win streak snapped last week in a 17-6 loss to the Giants and they have failed to cover in their last two games to sit at 8-6 against the spread. They have also hit the under in 10 of 14 games this year, including eight straight. Detroit is giving up just 20.4 points per game on defense this year and they have held their last six opponents to under 20 points. However, the unit has plenty of injuries as Darius Slay, their top corner, is doubtful with hamstring injury. Linebacker DeAndre Levy (knee), defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (quad) and defensive end Ezekiel Ansah (shoulder) are all questionable to play. Offensively, The Lions are putting up just 21.5 points per game. It’s been all on Matthew Stafford to move the ball as Detroit has one of the league’s worst rushing attacks at 81.7 yards per game. Stafford has thrown for 3,720 yards and 22 touchdowns this year with only eight interceptions. He is dealing with an injury to the middle finger on his throwing hand, but he is playing through it.

Dallas picked up a 26-20 win last week over Tampa Bay to move to 12-2 on the year. The Cowboys locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC thanks to a Giants loss on Thursday night, so they have nothing to play for these last two weeks, but they have indicated that all starters will play tonight. The Cowboys are 9-5 against the spread this year and 9-5 with the under. They have failed to cover in four straight while hitting the under in their last three. The Cowboys are putting up 26.1 points and 399.2 yards per game this season on offense. Ezekiel Elliott is the league’s leading rusher with 1,551 yards and 13 touchdowns. Dak Prescott, another rookie, has thrown for 3,418 yards and 20 touchdowns while Tony Romo awaits a chance to play. Romo could see some action tonight. Defensively, Dallas is giving up just 18.4 points per game this year. They have been very strong against the run, allowing just 80.9 yards per game. Sean Lee, the top tackler with 140 tackles in 2016, is questionable for this game with a knee injury, but defensive end Randy Gregory is expected to make his season debut tonight after sitting out the season due to a suspension.
