Andrew Luck Could Miss Week 1
Are the odds against quarterback Andrew Luck starting Week 1 of the NFL season in two weeks?
While appearing on Mike Clay’s Sirius XM Fantasy show, ESPN Colts reporter Mike Wells said that the “odds are against” Luck playing Week 1 when Indianapolis takes on the L.A. Rams. Luck continues to rehab his surgically-repaired shoulder and has missed all of training camp and preseason.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Colts are 3-point road favorites to beat the Rams in Week 1. The total, meanwhile, is down to 47 after hitting the board at 47.5. Once Luck is officially ruled out, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the spread drop close to a pick’em.

Scott Tolzien would be the starter if Luck were to miss time. He completed 10-of-14 passes for 70 yards in the Colts’ second preseason game last Saturday. He threw for just 5.0 yards per pass attempt and the COlts went three and out on all three of their drives against the COwboys starters. They scored on just one of six drives while Tolzien was in the game.
One sound bet is to take the under on the Colts’ season win total. Most sports books have pulled the number off the board waiting to hear if Luck will be ready for Week 1 but some books have the number at 7.5. Without Luck, this team isn’t good enough to win seven or eight games. Taking the under would be risky because if Luck returns in Week 2 you become somewhat exposed. Then again, there’s no guarantee Luck (who has been banged up for two years now) stays healthy throughout the season anyway.
