NFL Odds: Broncos to have open competition at running back? 5/13/17

Broncos’ RB job open for competition

The Broncos are set to have an open competition at running back for the 2017 season.

New coach Vance Joseph noted earlier this offseason that there would be an open competition for the starting quarterback job, but that’s not the only position that is available. On Friday, Joseph also noted that the starting running back job is open for competition as well.

“The running back position, you need two or three guys who can carry the load. It’s no longer a one-guy position,”Joseph said to reporters Friday. “So, I’m excited to have Jamaal (Charles), C.J. (Anderson), Book (Devontae Booker), even De’Angelo (Henderson) in the mix there. It’s a good group. It’s going to be competitive and that’s the way it should be.”

Both Anderson and Charles have rushed for more than 1,000 yards multiple times in their career. Booker, meanwhile, was drafted to be the starter one day, but he’s coming off an inconsistent rookie season.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Broncos are 18/1 to win the 2017 Super Bowl. They also have odds of 12/1 to win the AFC Conference Championship this upcoming season and are 2/1 to win the AFC West Division.
