Will new Jaguar Leonard Fournette win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2017? Here are his odds.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Fournette is a 9/2 favorite to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2017 after being selected by Jacksonville with the fourth overall pick in April’s draft. The eighth overall pick, meanwhile, has the next-best odds, as Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is 6/1.

Continuing with the odds, Corey Davis of the Titans, Dalvin Cook of the Vikings, and Deshaun Watson of the Texans are all 8/1, respectively, to win OROY. Jordan Howard is 10/1, Jonathan Williams is 12/1, and DeShone Kizer, Joe Mixon and John Ross are all 15/1, respectively. The other mid-range long-shots include Jamaal Williams and Mitch Trubisky, who are 20/1, respectively.
McCaffrey’s teammate, Curtis Samuel, is 25/1. Evan Engram of the Giants has those same 25/1 odds, followed by David Njoku is 28/1. Adam Shaeen, Juju Smith-Schuster, Kareem Hunt and Patrick Mahomes are all 30/1, respectively. Cardale Jones, meanwhile, is 35/1.

As for the true long-shots, Dede Westbrook and former Oklahoma teammate Samaje Perine are both 50/1, respectively, while Donta Foreman, Kenny Golladay and Wayne Gallman are 65/1, respectively. ArDarius Stewart, Donnel Pumphrey and Joe Williams are all 80/1, respectively.
Our Early Prediction: Quarterbacks have dominated this award in the recent past, with four signal-callers winning the honors in the past seven years. That said, none of the QBs drafted this year have a great chance to start. The player with the best opportunity is Watson, who will compete with Tom Savage in training camp and preseason to start in Houston.
That said, the player that offers the best value is Cook at 8/1. The Vikings signed former Raider Latavius Murray to be the starter, but then drafted Cook in the second round. Cook will have to supplant Murray first, but he can do it all, both as a runner and receiver. Minnesota’s offensive line has to improve dramatically and the front office did make strides this offseason to accomplish that feat, but nonetheless I like Cook as a value play here.
