Bucs vs. Jaguars Week 14 Odds
JACKSONVILLE, FL (The Spread) – Two stumbling teams battle this Sunday in Jacksonville, where the Jaguars are a small favorite over the Bucs.
TAMPA BAY: With their 38-19 loss to the Panthers in Week 13, the Bucs have now lost six in a row and have failed to cover in five of their last six games. It’s gotten so bad in Tampa that coach Raheem Morris even sent home Brian Price in the middle of last Sunday’s game after the defensive tackle was penalized for a personal foul. At 4-8 the Bucs have essentially kissed their postseason hopes goodbye as they’re now five games behind the NFC South-leading Saints and three games behind second place Atlanta. Quarterback Josh Freeman has struggled this year while throwing for 2,715 yards, while running back LeGarrette Blount has four touchdowns and has rushed for 663 yards.
JACKSONVILLE: The Jaguars fired head coach Jack Del Rio last Monday but got the same result as the past three weeks: A loss. Their 38-14 loss to the Chargers on Monday Night Football was Jacksonville’s third straight defeat and now the Jags are 3-9 on the year with no hope of making the playoffs. In their three losses, Jacksonville has failed to cover spreads of +1 (at. Cleveland), +6 (vs. Houston) and +3 (vs. San Diego), as rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert has struggled mightily under center.
ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Jaguars as 2-point favorites over the Bucs, while the over/under total for Sunday’s game is currently sitting at 38 points. Tampa Bay enters the day with a 4-8 overall record and is 1-4 on the road, while Jacksonville is 3-9 overall and 2-4 at home this season.
TRENDS: The underdog is 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams while Jacksonville is 1-4 ATS in its last five home games and 1-5 ATS in its last six games versus a team with a losing record. The Bucs, meanwhile, are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games in Week 14.
