Five Week 7 Spreads to Watch Closely
With Week 6 nearly in the books, let’s get a jumpstart on Week 7 with five lines to keep an eye on this weekend.
Chiefs vs. Raiders, Thursday, 8:25PM ET
The Thursday Night Football matchup this week is dripping in intrigue. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Raiders are 3-point home underdogs to beat the now-not-so-perfect Chiefs. Kansas City opened as a 2.5-point favorite but despite its loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday, the line climbed in favor of the Chiefs instead of dropping. The Chiefs are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against the Raiders and are 11-3 at the betting window in their last 14 games in Oakland.
Saints at Packers, 1:00PM ET, Sunday
Want to know how much Aaron Rodgers affects a line? The Packers were destined to be favored by nearly a touchdown at home on Sunday against the Saints. But since Rodgers broke his collarbone in Green Bay’s loss to Minnesota, the Packers are now positioned as a 4.5-point home underdog to the suddenly hot Saints. The over is a perfect 8-0 in the last eight meetings between these two teams and is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Green Bay. As for the total, the number hit the board at 47.5 and that’s where the number currently sits.
Cardinals at Rams, 1:00PM ET
Football fans figured at this Week 7 matchup between the Cardinals and Rams would featured one 3-3 team and one 4-2 squad. Not many assumed it would be the Rams that are the four-win team, however. Los Angeles opened as a 2.5-point home favorite over Arizona but is now -3.5 at the majority of sports books. The Cardinals are 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games versus the Rams and are 6-2 against the number in their last eight games versus L.A. overall.
Falcons vs. Patriots, 8:30PM ET
This Super Bowl rematch lost some of its luster when the Falcons fell at home for the second straight game. After losing to the Bills as a 7.5-point favorite in Week 4, Atlanta blew a 17-0 lead in Week 6 to fall to Miami as a 14-point favorite. New England, meanwhile, improved to 4-2 with its win on Sunday against the Jets, but failed to cover for the fourth time in its six games. The Patriots opened as 3.5-point favorites versus the Falcons but are now favored by just a field goal. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 53.5 but has climbed to 54. New England figures to be a big public betting play given Atlanta’s recent struggles.
Redskins at Eagles, 8:30PM ET, Monday
One of the hottest teams in the league will play on primetime against a divisional rival on Monday night when the Eagles host the Redskins. The 5-1 Eagles are now 4-point home favorites versus the Redskins, who improved to 3-2 with a narrow win over the 49ers on Sunday. Washington is 6-1 against the spread in its last seven games and is 8-2 against the number in its last 10 games in Philadelphia.
