Free Pick: Broncos
This week in the NFL there is Thursday Night Football and oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global has the Denver Broncos listed as a 3-point underdog against the rival Cleveland Browns.
Denver and Cleveland have a short week and are both coming off disappointing home losses. The Broncos have little time to dwell on the fact that they were held to only 14 rushing yards by the Dolphins on their way to a embarrassing home loss on Sunday as a 4-point favorite.
Cleveland managed to snatch defeat from the claws of victory after a total collapse while leading 27-13 only to see the final score favor the visiting Ravens after they put up 17 in the 4th quarter to win 37-27. With such embarrassing home losses from both teams it is going to be up to the coaching staff to get these conference rivals ready.
The Broncos have been a solid expert NFL Pick against the Browns and are 16-2 straight up against the Browns in the last 18, and 8-0 ATS when taking points. It is also important to note that Shanahan’s Broncos are 8-1-1 as an underdog when being under .500 after dropping two in a row.
Meanwhile, the Browns are also a solid NFL Pick historically, sitting at 9-1 ATS after one or more consecutive losses over the last two seasons. So when trying to handicap this game, both ends of the ATS spectrum can favor either team. The handicapping team at theSpread.com concludes the ATS history is essentially a coin flip when trying to make a selection on this NFL matchup.
Brady Quinn will be making his NFL debut on Thursday and has 50% of the public backing (link to data) him as a 3-point favorite. Both teams have struggled with inconsistency, but we believe that the Broncos should be able to get their run game going and will disappoint the home town faithful sitting in the “Dawg Pound” section of the stadium. Even though the Denver defense has not been impressive against opposing quarterbacks, we do not see Quinn doing enough to defeat the Broncos on his home turf.
Our handicapping experts when making NFL Picks for this week think Denver rookie running back Ryan Torain should pick up the slack for the ground game on the way to a road victory for the underdog Broncos.
NFL Prediction:
Denver Broncos 27
Cleveland Browns 24
