NFL Picks: Without Cutler, will Titans vs. Bears be low-scoring? 11/27/16

Titans vs. Bears Pick

With Jay Cutler out, will the Titans and Bears game this Sunday be low-scoring for bettors at 1:00PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Bears are now a 4.5-point home underdog versus the Titans after the game opened as a pick’em earlier in the week. As for the total, the number hit the board at 45.5 and has been bet down to 42 at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

The Titans continue to alternate between wins and losses. Two weeks ago they throttled Green Bay 47-25 as a 3-point home underdog but last Sunday they fell 24-17 as a 3-point dog at the Colts. That loss dropped their record to 5-6 straight up and 4-7 against the spread. In their five road games this season, the Titans failed to cover in three of those games.

The Bears fell 22-16 to the Giants last Sunday and have now lost five of their last six games. The good news for backers is that they covered as a 7-point underdog and have now covered in two of their last three games. But with Matt Barkley set to start in place of the injured Jay Cutler, it’s probably best to avoid the Bears at the betting window from here on out.

OUR PREDICTION: The Titans should never be mentioned in the same sentence as the ’85 Bears but they should put together a strong defensive effort against Barkley on Sunday. The Bears are not only down Cutler but also Alshon Jeffery, who is serving a four-game suspension. Look for Chicago to try to keep the ball on the ground with Jordan Howard and steal possessions away from Marcus Mariota and that suddenly explosive Tennessee offense. This should lead to a low-scoring game. The under is 4-1 in the Bears’ last five home games and is 8-3 in the Titans’ last 11 road games versus a team with a losing home record.
