Falcons vs. Rams Pick

Will the under cash on Sunday when the Rams host the banged-up Falcons at 4:25PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Falcons are now 6.5-point road favorites versus the Rams after opening as a 5.5-point favorite. As for the total, the number opened at 46 but has been bet down to 45 points at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

The Falcons are coming off their fifth loss of the season, a 29-28 heartbreaker against the Chiefs, who scored two points on a failed two-point attempt by Atlanta late in the fourth quarter. The loss dropped the Falcons to 7-5 and into a tie with the Buccaneers in the NFC South. After failing to cover the spread as a 5-point favorite, Atlanta is also now 7-5 against the spread in 2016 as well.

The Rams lost for the seventh time in their last eight games last week, falling 26-10 to the Patriots in Foxboro. The team is now just 4-8 in their first season in Los Angeles and is just 4-7-1 against the spread in its 12 games in 2016. There have also been reports of a schism between Jeff Fisher and Les Snead, who have both received two-year contract extensions by the front office.

OUR PREDICTION: The Falcons’ offense has been outstanding all season long but they enter Sunday banged-up on that side of the ball. Matt Ryan could be without Julio Jones (turf toe) and Mohamed Sanu (groin), as well as left tackle Jake Matthews (knee). Jones could play but it’s doubtful that he’ll be 100-percent, which means Atlanta could rely on Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman and its running game to help protect Ryan. That could translate into a low-scoring game for bettors. The under is 7-1 in the Falcons’ last eight games in December and 13-6-1 in their last 20 road games. On the other side, the under is 4-1 in the Rams’ last five home games and 10-1 in their last 11 games against an opponent that owns a winning record.
