NFL Playoffs: Jaguars vs. Steelers Spread Back Down to Key Number 1/14/18

Jags-Steelers Line Holds at Key Number

The point spread for Sunday’s NFL Divisional Round matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers is back down to a key number.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Steelers are 7-point home favorites to beat the Jaguars at 1:05 p.m. ET today. Pittsburgh opened as a 7-point favorite last Sunday afternoon after Jacksonville defeated the Buffalo Bills 10-3 in the Wild Card round. The spread then jumped to 7.5, where it stayed for much of the week until dropping back down to 7 on Friday. That’s where the line currently sits.

Some sports books have priced the juice on the Steelers at +100 as of Sunday morning, so perhaps another line change is coming. That said, it’s hard to believe that oddsmakers will drop the line to 6.5 and off the key number of 7. More than likely, they’ll stay with the 7 and adjust the juice throughout the morning. Make sure you’re shopping around for the best line.

As of this writing, 63% of the betting tickets are on the Steelers and 70% of the money is also on Pittsburgh to cover. These figures would also indicate that oddsmakers will be reluctant to move the number off 7. The only way that line moves is if they get heavy action from wiseguys on Jacksonville. It’ll be interesting to see what happens leading up to kickoff. You can follow the line movement here.

Meanwhile, the over/under for today’s playoff matchup is sitting at 41 points. The number opened at 41 and there hasn’t been a ton of movement one way or another. As of Sunday morning, 56% of betting tickets are on the under and 64% of the money is also on the under so if we see movement, one would think it’ll be to 40.5.

The road team is a perfect 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams while the underdog has cashed in nine of the last 10 meetings. The Jaguars are also 4-1 against the spread in their last five visits to Pittsburgh and are 12-5 at the betting window in their last 17 games versus the Steelers overall.
